As the race for Secretary of State heads into its final weeks, the political mudslinging between the candidates is starting to get dirty.

Kris Cohn has called for a formal investigation into Secretary of State Jesse White's campaign, she alleges that White has used state resources to aid in campaign efforts, and says that the timing of this investigation has nothing to do with political gain but everything to do with abuse of power.

Republican Secretary of State candidate Kris Cohn filed this letter with the inspector general early Sunday to request an investigation into secretary White's use of state resources for campaign purposes.

Cohn alleges that White used his state vehicle to travel to and from campaign appearances, ran her plates illegally and also used state computers to search into her family's personnel history. Abuses secretary white adamantly denies.

White says, “This is an indication that she's getting desperate.

But Cohn says that he admitted to using taxpayer’s dollars to run her plates and that’s scary.

White says that with Cohn's numbers so far behind in the polls she will do anything she can to get votes, but it's her abuse of power that should be investigated, and not his.

“If Mr. White has accusations like what I have then he should bring it to the appropriate people,” says Cohn.

Cohn says that the abuses he alleges by her were legitimate county business.

Now Cohn denies any wrongdoing, but with 16 days left until the election, will have to wait see if this attack on White will help Cohn come November.
