Some lucky people in Rockford got the chance to fly America's newest state-of-the-art warplane Tuesday.
Flight simulator demonstrations for the F-22 Raptor took place at the Hamilton Sundstrand facility on Harrison. Hamilton Sundstrand manufactures the F-22's main electrical power generating system and the main engine fuel pump at the Rockford facility. Those who got a chance to "fly" the jet were able to see first hand the Raptor's tremendous war-fighting capabilities in realistic combat situations.
The raptor will replace the aging F-15 eagle as America's premier front-line fighter jet starting in 2005.
