The Council of Neighborhood Organizations or CNO called a meeting in Rockford Thursday night to discuss issues of education, public safety and immigration. Several candidates up for election next month were there to meet the public and answer some of their questions. A lack of answers really heated things up.
The candidates who attended the CNO meeting were put in the hot seat after some Rockford community member's posed tough questions and demanded answers.
Community members wanted promises that if these officials are elected they would improve education funding and, the most heated issue of night, immigration.
Prisma Galarca dreams of becoming a day care teacher one day, but since she was born in Mexico she says that dream is being trampled on.
Galarca hopes the candidates will improve legislation to make it easier for her and people like her to go to college and help them achieve their goals.
