BELOIT (WIFR) -- What was supposed to be an exciting announcement about the return of one of Wisconsin's busiest Welcome Centers turns into an attack on the Governor's politics.

About fifty protesters showed up to the Beloit Welcome Center today where Governor Scott Walker announced it would reopen after being closed for two years. Protesters chanted the entire time the Governor and other presenters spoke, drowning out everything they had to say. The Welcome Center closed in 2009 due to budget cuts. In addition to Beloit, Welcome Centers in La Crosse and Kenosha reopened. Each town's Convention and Visitor's Bureau will take over staffing costs, making it all possible.

"We want to welcome the people from all across the Midwest to one of the best places out there for tourism. But unfortunately a handful of people want to disrupt that. They're certainly making it very polarizing on their part but we're ready to move forward. We had a democratic senator and republic lawmakers, we're ready to get the job done and that's what we're doing here today," said Governor Walker.

Randy must have gotten the memo that Capslock is cruise control for awesome. At any rate, I wouldn't expect that bully to get a warm welcome anywhere in this state.

So are you saying that 50 disruptive people took the excitement out of the occasion? I just have to wonder what it would be like if this had been Jim doyle making this announcement, and the TEA party had showed up and acted in a similar fashion, how they would have been handled? The disruptive crowds like this must not have heard the message about civility, preached a few months ago by the occupant of of the White house!!!

HOW MANY OF US (ILLINOIS RESIDENTS) WOULD TRADE OLD QUINN IN FOR A WALKER? NO PUBLIC UNIONS! PRIVATE UNIONS OK! UNIONS THAT HOLD US THE TAX PAYER AS HOSTAGE! GOV OFFICALS ON THE TAKE TO UNION KICK-BACKS! DID YOU GET A RAISE IN PAY THE LAST 3 YEARS? EVERY YEAR! OUR ILLINOIS STATE WORKERS DID....YOU PAID IT! 66% INCREASE IN YOU WITHHOLDING STATE TAX! AND STILL ITS NOT ENOUGH....SO SAD. THE MORE YOU GIVE TO THE HAVE NOTS THE MORE THEY WANT...AND THE MORE THE DEM'S WISH TO BUY THE VOTE FROM THEM.
