Popular Grove Elementary School is finally heating up.

That's after three of the four buildings heaters broke down early this week.

The district knew they we're going out - and when school administrators fired the boiler up Monday at Popular Grove Elementary, three of the four heaters went bad.

Students are wearing sweaters and jackets because of the lack of heat. Fans are now being used to circulate heat from one end of the building to the other.

Superintendent Bill Ton says the heaters we're from the 1970's, and are just one of the many pieces of equipment that are outdated and breaking down.

Four previous referendums for building renovations and a new high school have failed.

Coming up on the November ballot - a fifth attempt on a $15 million referendum.

The money would pay for a new high school, and building renovations and improvements at other schools.

It could take two to three weeks for north Boone to install new heaters. The state is letting the district use building fund money to make the emergency repairs.
