Grab those receipts; keep those tags on. 'Tis the holiday postseason: gift return madness. Here's the lowdown at some area stores.
At Best Buy, if you are returning or exchanging an item, here are the rules. Refunds for DVDs and video games are valid only if the items are unopened.
You have until January 8 for refunds on cameras and camcorders, and until January 25 for all other purchases.
At Target, you can return any items that are new and still in their original packaging. The majority of items must be returned within 90 days. The bad news is Target does not accept refunds for gift cards.
Moving to hardware, at The Home Depot, exchanges and returns are made only with a receipt, and in just-new condition. However, items ordered on the Home Depot's website cannot be exchanged at area stores. All items must be returned within 90 days.
Closing out on clothing, at Old Navy and their mother store The Gap, you can return online purchases with the proper credit card. Again, make those clothing exchanges and returns within three months. Gap and Old Navy Gift cards are non-refundable.
So if you aren't entirely pleased with that particular gift, grab those receipts and hit the return lines. Good luck exchanging.
