Salvation Army Christmas Dinner

This holiday season, the Rockford Salvation Army once again brought the miracle of Christmas to hundreds of stateliners in need.

A warm, Christmas feast was served to about 250 people at the Salvation Army Center on Kilburn Avenue. The dinner was open to the entire community to those who are homeless and those that are lonely this holiday season.

More than 75 volunteers donated their time to make the special dinner possible. Volunteers served all the holiday fixings, from turkey and gravy to rolls and dessert.

Capt. Carrie Pollom says the final number for this year’s Red Kettle Drive isn’t available yet, but she says the Salvation Army was running a little behind its $200,000 goal.

The money collected during the drive is used to support the Salvation Army's operating expenses for food programs and its shelter.
