Chicago Board of Elections spokesman Tom Leach says it's just unheard of that people were waiting in line when the polls opened at 6 a.m.

He says some polling places already had 25-percent of their registered voters cast ballots in the first hour.

Scott Burnham of the Cook County Clerk's Office says a steady stream of voters is casting ballots in its 30 townships in suburban Chicago.

Burnham says people also waited in line for the polls to open.
