STARTING NEXT MONTH, HOOTER'S AIR WILL BEGIN TAKING OFF FROM ROCKFORD TO DENVER AND ATLANTA. THE AIRLINE WILL ALSO TAKE OVER TRANSMERIDIAN FLIGHTS TO LAS VEGAS.
THE DECISION WILL CREATE NEW JOBS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE AIRPORT.
HOOTER'S AIR WILL BASE A FLIGHT CREW OUT OF ROCKFORD - WHICH MEANS ABOUT 20 NEW JOBS FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS. BUT MORE IMPORTANT, AIRPORT AND LOCAL LEADERS SAY, LANDING ANOTHER AIRLINE MAY SPARK THE INTEREST OF EVEN MORE.
STARTING JANUARY 31ST HOOTER'S AIR WILL TAKE OFF FROM ROCKFORD TO ATLANTA, DENVER AND LAS VEGAS. ADD THAT TO TRANSMERIDIAN'S VACATION DESTINATIONS AND AIRPORT AND LOCAL LEADERS SAY THINGS ARE REALLY STARTING TO LOOK GOOD FOR RFD.
"The success of TMA led to today - another airline says yeah we can put our planes here and this will be successful to and will help up get the next one," says Rockford Mayor Doug Scott.
"It’s another airlines as well as a new business destination. It should really change the perception airlines have about our community," says Derek Martin.
HOOTER'S AIRLINE PRESIDENT MARK PETERSON SAYS WHEN IT COMES TO SERVICE, ROCKFORD IS A PERFECT MATCH. A NO HASSLE ENVIRONMENT, HE SAYS, IS WHAT CUSTOMERS WANT.
BUT WILL ROCKFORD PASSENGERS BE HESITANT TO FLY HOOTER'S AIR? PRESIDENT MARK PETERSON SAYS NO; HOOTER'S AIR IS NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER AIRLINE.
"Once we get going and the word of mouth about what we're doing and how nice our airplanes are […] that’s all the advertisement we’ll need,” says Peterson.
"People may have a problem with the name but the service and reliability is second to none,” adds Martin.
