For 28 years, Bob Shumway has lived on Springbrook Road. In 2005 however, a multi-million dollar four-lane road project could change the landscape for himself and neighbors.

The Winnebago County Highway Department hasn't told Shumway or other residents when or where the project will break ground.

Shumway says he's nervous the project could stop right at his front door.

"We're going to have to wait it out of course. I don't want to see the bulldozer at the front door because at my age I don't really care to rebuild a new house. Most of these houses are older, older nature trees, great part of town," Shumway said.

The Winnebago County Highway Department could not be reached for comment.

On Wednesday, Rockford’s transportation study held an informational open house answering questions about other growth projects near the Winnebago-Boone County line.
