The Rock County Sheriff's Department is trying to recover money from some unexpected spending. The department has sent a bill for more than $13,000 to President Bush's campaign for last month's visit to Janesville.
Rock County Sheriff Eric Runaas says it was an honor for the county to host the president, but he says providing the necessary security was a severe burden. The bill for Bush's visit includes only overtime paid to 55 department employees.
The department did the same after a visit to Beloit by Democrat John Kerry. It submitted a bill for more than $3,000 to his campaign. Runaas says they've had no response to that bill and he's not optimistic the latest one awill get paid either.
