The report Thursday from the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence says 38 people were killed in domestic violence incidents in 2002. Eleven of the assailants took their own lives.

The coalition's executive director Mary Lauby says the report shows the role guns play in domestic violence homicides. Of the 16 perpetrators who used guns to kill their victims, 11 would have qualified for a concealed carry permit based on proposed legislation last year.

The report is critical of the failed proposal that would have legalized carrying concealed weapons in Wisconsin.

Lauby says it would make it easier for the assailants to hunt down their victims.
