OREGON (WIFR) -- Originally scheduled as a one-day river sweep event on July 31, 2010, the Great Rock River Sweep of 2010 has had its share of challenges including a computer meltdown just three weeks prior to the scheduled date. That in itself has been quite interesting, as communication was not only interrupted, but getting everything re-loaded and learning a new operating system has included additional challenges.

As it turned out, that was nothing compared to major flooding of the Rock River from one end to the other just one week before the scheduled event date. Some of the USGS gauging stations recorded record and/or near-record gauge readings from this flooding.

Re-scheduled for September 11, 2010:
*Section #11 – Rockton, IL
*Section #15b – Rockford, IL South
*Section #18 – Grand Detour, IL
*Section #20 – Sterling, IL

Pending Communication from Section Coordinators:
*Section #2 – Hustisford, WI
*Section #21 – Rock Falls, IL

Cancelled:
*Section #3 – Watertown, WI
*Section #16 – Byron, IL

Completed:
*Section #1 – Horicon, WI - July 31st
*Section #1a – Waupun, WI - July 31st
* Section #8 – Janesville, WI, City of - July 31st
*Section #8a – Janesville, WI, North - July 31st
* Section #8b – Happy Hollow Park, Rock County, WI - July 31st
