ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Crews are replacing parts on six bridges on the section of the bypass from I-90 to I-39 south. That means traffic will be down to one lane in each direction. Work should be complete by mid-November. The project will cost $798,264.
Also, work will start at the U.S. interchange with Alpine Rd. at the south edge of Rockford. The project, which includes resurfacing, will help spruce up the two ramps from Alpine Rd. to U.S. 20.
And work on on IL Rt. 2 of Byron will also begin this week. Workers will remove and replace pavement under the railroad. The work is part of the $1.8 million project that started last fall to improve the 10 miles of IL 2 from Byron to Beltline Road in Rockford.
