ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Local Economic Development Leaders will head to Chicago in a few weeks to participate in a trade show to showcase prime industrial real estate in the area . RAEDC CEOJanyce Fadden says this is a great way to make connections with hundreds of site selectors in a short period of time as they shop locations to expand or relocate.
Leaders plan to market the I -39 corridor . The corridor stretches through 14 counties and spans 165 miles from Janesville, Wisconsin in the north to Bloomington Normal in the south.
Fadden says business reap many benefits, including low operation costs by locating in the corridor.
"Clearly they want their trucks rolling when they leave their plant. They would like within 10 minutes to be on the interstate and have their trucks rolling for some, it's even more critical. They are looking for the flexibility of getting on the road more quickly and not running into Chicago congestion."
The Rockford area has scored some big wins from this show in the last few years . Much of the development in the Rock 39 Industrial Park off of Baxter road is a result of corridor promotions. So is the Lowe's Distribution Center which employs nearly 800 people in Winnebago County.
This years Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers show is on Tuesday September 14th, from 10 t0 2 at the Hyatt Regency-O' Hare in Rosemont.
