CHICAGO (AP) -- A girlfriend of the man accused of killing members of the family of Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson says the defendant admitted to the killings hours after the shootings.
Shanta Cathey testified Friday that William Balfour gave her a detailed account of the shootings of Hudson's mother and her brother. However, she agreed to serve as his alibi if police inquired.
Cathey told jurors she wasn't initially honest with detectives after they tracked Balfour to her apartment and brought her in for questioning. She said she was in love with the man and didn't want him to get in any trouble.
Also Friday, 71-year-old retiree Bill Graham testified that he saw Balfour driving the same white SUV in which police would later find the body of Hudson's 7-year-old nephew.
