ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Symphony Orchestra announces the sixth season of SoundBites, the lunchtime discussion series hosted by Music Director Steven Larsen. SoundBites is an engaging and entertaining prelude to the RSO concert experience. The discussions begin at noon on the Friday before each RSO Classics Series concert, and will take place at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club located at 5151 Guilford Rd.

The SoundBites lunchtime series includes informal discussions featuring Mr. Larsen and a variety of exciting guest musicians who will perform with the RSO on concerts throughout the season. SoundBites is free; however reservations are strongly recommended. SoundBites guests may bring their own lunch and beverage, or order from the Club’s menu. Cash or checks only are accepted for lunch orders.

The topics for each Sound Bites vary, offering a personal perspective by the particular guest musician featured at the discussion. Insights into the performers’ backgrounds and their reflections on the music that they will perform with the RSO are major features of the series. There is also ample opportunity for those attending the discussions to join in with questions or comments.

The first 2010/11 season SoundBites is Friday, September 16, and features renowned pianist David Syme. Mr. Syme will perform George Gershwin’s luscious Piano Concerto in F with the RSO Saturday, September 17. This will be Mr. Syme’s third appearance with the RSO. He begins his concert season with the RSO, then travels to Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, and several Arizona communities before traveling to the Czech Republic and Russia for a tour including six recitals.

The 2011/12 season dates for SoundBites are listed below. Artists and dates are subject to change.
