ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- More people will be able to take advantage of the Rockford Public library's digital collection.

That’s because it's now compatible with the Amazon kindle. The new system also works for iPads, Barnes and Noble Nooks, and other mobile devices.

Librarians say they're expecting a huge wave of interest in digital copies of books. Starting next year the library plans on allocating more of its budget towards its digital book collection and online databases.

Library staff are also offering training for customers who need help learning how to access online material.
