MONROE (WIFR) -- Summer is winding down and that may have some of you singing the blues. Minhas Craft Brewery and the Monroe Lion’s Club are proud to present the first ever Minhas Oktoberfest. Come join us, September 17th, for live blues music, drinks, food, and fun!

Start your day off with a guided tour of the Minhas Craft Brewery or stroll through Herb & Helen Haydock’s World of Beer Memorabilia museum – valued at $1 million. Tours start at 10 am and go until 5 pm. The tour is only $10.00 and you don’t go home empty handed! Each individual will leave with a “Thank You” pack in hand. These “Thank You “ packs include a Blumer Soda, Lazy Mutt, 1845 Pills, Billy Bock, Swiss Amber and of course, a sampler glass. All four of our museum rooms feature hundreds of brewery advertising artifacts, Lithographs and prints from the mid-1800 era to the 1950’s and ‘60’s. Another room holds collections of model cars, trucks and trains, tap handles and growlers from around the world. Take a look around the Minhas Gift Shop for beer, clothing and souvenirs. Either way, make sure to stop by and taste the History in the making.

Later on in the afternoon, sing your blues away with the music of 3 amazing bands - Alex Wilson, October Soul and The Jimmy’s. Did you know that Alex Wilson took 6th place at this years’ International Blues Challenge and will be kicking off the live music at 1 pm. October Soul is the second act and is a combination of rock, country and blues. The Jimmy’s will be the final act with an eight piece band influenced by raw Chicago Blues to second line New Orleans Funk. The public is welcome to a free show. Of course, we will have plenty of tasty beers and amazing food. The Lion’s Club will be serving their famous pork sandwiches along with hot dogs, walking tacos, cheese curds, French fries, lemonade and water. Chocolate Bunny Stout, Rhinelander, Boxer Light and Minhas Oktoberfest will be served on tap as well. Make sure to stop by for cool drinks, live music, and some terrific food!

What an unbelievable display of talent. I caught Alex a few years ago at a blues fest in Monroe. He is awesome and could easily be the headliner. The Jimmies have grown to be probably the hottest music scene in the Midwest. All the musicians are fantastic stand alones and yet together add up to the best use of the word synergy. When you attend make sure to pick up their albums and also the drummer's album--Mauro Magellan.

I have seen all three of these bands more than once. You have a KILLER line-up! October Soul is one of the best bands to have come out of Milwaukee in decades - and Jamie is the sexiest singer I have seen perform to date. Monroe is in for a real treat!
