MALTA (WIFR) -- Nadine Franklin, Kishwaukee College theater faculty, has announced auditions for the fall 2011 production of Gina Gionfriddo’s Becky Shaw will be held on September 13 and 14 at 7:00p.m. in the Kishwaukee College Theater (B-211).
Auditions are open to community members as well as students and staff of the College. The play has roles for three women (one age 50 and two in their 20s-30s) and two men (both in their 20s-30s). Franklin stated she would like anyone auditioning for the play to read the play prior to auditioning. Copies of Becky Shaw are available on reserve at the Kishwaukee College Library.
Gina Gionfriddo’s Becky Shaw was a 2009 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. The Kishwaukee College production will be the Illinois premier of the play. Becky Shaw is a comedy of bad manners, love, sex and ethics that follow the ramifications of a set-up date gone bad. The story builds suspense in the midst of the comedy and keeps the audience guessing—Who is right? Who is wrong? What is right? What is wrong? Becky Shaw is intellectually stimulating, laugh-filled theater at its best. Show dates are November 9 – 12 at the Kishwaukee College Theater with a curtain time of 7:30p.m. The play will be directed by Nadine Franklin.
