PENSACOLA (WIFR) -- The Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, The Blue Angels, has cancelled both the scheduled flyover for the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) graduation and commissioning May 27 and their air show performances scheduled May 28-29 in Millville, N.J.

The USNA flyover will now be performed by Strike Fighter Squadron 143 (VFA-143), based out of Naval Air Station Oceana, Va.

The Blue Angels will remain in Pensacola for additional training and air show demonstration practice. Any changes to the team’s future schedule will be determined at a later date.

The Blue Angels regret any inconvenience and look forward to continuing to represent the Navy and Marine Corps service members serving around the world.

Rockford AirFest 2011 is June 4 and 5 at RFD, and staff continues to prepare for the show. Airport officials will advise when more information on the Blue Angels’ status is available.
