ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford's Parks are some of the most treasured parts of our community. And one man who helped make them that way has documented his journey with the park district.
The book "Building a Lasting Dream 1909-to-2009: A History of the Rockford Park District" is now on sale. It was written by Webbs Norman, who spent the night signing copies.
Norman worked for the park district for 34 years, most recently as executive director. The book features lots of interesting facts and photos about the park district and is meant to keep its history alive.
Books are being sold at the Webbs Norman Center
Carlson Ice Arena, and The Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens. They're $20. Proceeds benefit the Rockford Park District Foundation.
