First edition Harry Potter nets 18-thousand dollars

LONDON (AP) -- Buying the latest Harry Potter book will now look like a bargin.

A first edition Harry Potter book has sold for 18-thousand dollars at an auction to an anonymous buyer.

Bonhams auctioneers say the price is unprecedented for a book that is relatively so new and whose author is still alive.

Publishers initially produced between 500 and one-thousand copies of J-K Rowling's first novel "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". Publishers titled it "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in the U-S.

The seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series is due out on July 21st. So far, the books have sold more than 325 (m) million copies worldwide.
