ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- One of the primary focuses of the Rockford Area Illini Club has been the awarding of academic scholarships to incoming freshmen at the University of Illinois every year since 1986. The process for selection for these awards is done by the R.A.I.C. scholarship committee, which includes distinguished administrators and educators. Over 100 scholarships have been awarded, totaling more than $100,000. Each year a reception is held to honor the scholarship recipients and their parents.
The Rockford Area Illini Club is recognizing its five scholarship winners for 2014. These students, who will be incoming freshmen at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the fall, were announced and celebrated at the RAIC's annual scholarship winners reception held at the UI College of Medicine at Rockford on July 9.
