ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A Rockford high school has started work on more space for its athletics program.
The addition at Guilford will include a $56,000 square foot field house.
Ringland Johnson will build the $8.5 million dollar space. The addition will include a 160-meter track with three basketball courts. A new entrance to the school’s swimming pool and a weight room. The old weight room will turn into more classrooms.
"Our participation numbers are up here at Guilford by 25 percent and I think the fieldhouse will make those numbers even rise further,” said Guilford Boys’ Basketball Coach, Dean Martinetti.
The project is expected to be completed in the fall.
