ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Van Matre HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital has named Ricardo A. Knight, M.D., M.B.A., as the newest member to its team of highly skilled physicians.
In his role as a staff physiatrist, Knight will focus on the treatment of spinal cord injuries. Whether a patient has received a spinal cord injury in a car wreck, survived a stroke, suffered from arthritis or struggled with job-related back pain; he will play a role in the patient’s return to the community.
“Dr. Knight will be a valuable asset to our hospital’s team of highly skilled physicians and therapists,” said Ken Bowman, Van Matre HealthSouth CEO. “His history of strong leadership and his expertise in physical medicine and rehabilitation will help us continue to provide patients with a higher quality of healthcare.”
Knight originally started his career in rehabilitative medicine as a physical therapist in 1987 and went on to receive his doctorate of medicine from State University of New York at Buffalo’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 1993. He completed his training in internal medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation at Temple University in Philadelphia. Knight is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His work experience includes Medlux Rehabilitation & Wellness, Advanced Physicians and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
