ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Two Major statewide business groups have honored Senator Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) for his pro-jobs business record. The Senator was named “Guardian of Small Business” by the National Federation of Independent Business NFIB and “Champion of Free Enterprise” by the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce.

“As a Leader in the Senate, Dave has been a tireless fighter on behalf of improving the business climate in Illinois,” said NFIB State Director Kim Clarke Maisch. “As a small business owner himself, the Senator knows the obstacles businesses face in Illinois and what needs to be done to create an economic environment that’s friendly to job creators.”

Syverson said that Illinois’ top priority should be improvement of the jobs climate. “As a state, we have the workforce and the infrastructure; what’s missing is the environment. We lose more jobs to other states than other countries; that tells us it’s an Illinois problem. It also tells us that if we change the environment, Illinois could have unprecedented economic growth and that’s what I am committed to doing.”

“I am grateful for this recognition but even more grateful for the work that NFIB and the State Chamber of Commerce do on behalf of job creators in Illinois,” Syverson said.

NFIB represents more than 11,000 small business owners throughout Illinois.
