ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- There's greater demand for new homes in Rockford. And that's bumping home prices.

Home sales usually drop over the Summer. But July marked the highest average price in the Rockford area this year at just under $113,000. More than 300 homes were sold, that's up 14% from last year.

Steve Bois, CEO of Rockford Area Realtors, says more homes were shown in July, which could mean better numbers for August.
