BYRON (WIFR) -- Russ Kearney has been named Byron Generating Station site
vice president. Kearney replaces Tim Tulon, who is the new vice president of Midwest operations
at the company’s nuclear headquarters in Warrenville, Ill.

“I am looking forward to continuing positive relationships with our neighbors and local officials in
and around the Byron area,” Kearney said. “This facility is an important piece of the regional
landscape, and I am eager to help continue our safe production of electricity for many years to
come.”

Kearney’s primary responsibility will be to oversee the safe and reliable operation of Byron
Station and to ensure the public is kept informed of the operation of the nuclear facility.
Kearney has more than 35 years of experience in management and operational support of
nuclear stations, serving most recently as vice president of operations for Exelon Generation’s
nuclear division.

Kearney’s commercial nuclear career began after a tour in the U.S Nuclear Navy. He had a 22-
year stint at First Energy’s Perry Nuclear Power Plant where he obtained a senior reactor
operator license in 1985. During his tenure at the Perry Plant, Kearney held various leadership
positions before joining Exelon in 2005 at Dresden Station near Morris, Ill.

He later held positions at the company’s nuclear headquarters and served as site vice president
and plant manager at Exelon’s Clinton Station near Bloomington, Ill. and was site vice president
at Exelon’s Limerick Station and PPL’s Susquehanna Station, both in Pennsylvania.

Byron Station is in Ogle County, Ill., about 25 miles southwest of Rockford. With both units at full
power, the site produces almost 2,300 megawatts around the clock, enough electricity for about
2.3 million typical homes.
