FREEPORT (WIFR) -- FHN Security Supervisor Quincy Carter has had a busy first year at FHN, but he’s pleased with the improvements he has seen.

“We have been able to devote a good amount of time to planning for – and working out how to prevent or thwart – potential threats,” Carter said. “Our department has worked with administration, Emergency Department staff and people throughout the hospital to make it a safer place for our patients, visitors and staff.”

Some of the year’s achievements include changes to how after-hours personnel enter the hospital; reconfiguration of the Emergency Department to safely accommodate more patients; the installation of panic alarms throughout the hospital; improvements to the hospital’s security cameras to provide better coverage; training for security personnel on de-escalating a threatening situation; and planning and training for a number of emergency scenarios.

“The majority of what we’ve done,” Carter said, “has been working with people to find out how we can make them feel safer, and letting them know that they can call us whenever they need us.”

“The people here do a great job of caring for their patients, and we’re proud to keep FHN Memorial Hospital a safe place, where they can focus on their work,” Carter said.
