There is some comments about this article that doesn't make any sense to me. This ignorant random act of defacing a bronze statue hurts Rockford and America. It is a tribute to a person that has spent a lot of time putting together free fireworks displays for everyone in Rockford who would want to attend and enjoy. The symbol of Mr. Fourth of July being defaced hurts the true American in me. I hope the person who committed this crime is caught and punished for it. So some other loser doesn't think to do this kind of thing again and get away with it. It isn't as if the murders and robberies don't make the news... they do!IF YOUR SICK OVER IT WELL, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. Do something about it to make a change.

OMG, it's sickening. The statue was defaced. That just blows my mind. Wow! It's a sad sad day when the defaced statue gets more attention on the news than the murders and robberies going on in this city.. Unbelievable.
