ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Police have arrested a woman they suspect is responsible for a rash of purse thefts from shopping carts over the past two weeks.

All the 'purse snatching' incidents were at local grocery stores and the victims ranged in age from 56 to 80.

At the time of the thefts, the victims left their purses in shopping carts while shopping.

Rockford Police Detectives arrested Aelsia E. Waybright,48, of Rockford after a follow up investigation on information received from Crime Stoppers.

I see women leave their purses in their carts all the time, even when half way down an aisle, can never figure out why anyone would do that, not to mention of seeing people leaving their cars running at gas stations all the time, easy to steal a car that way. Glad they caught the person, but shows that safety tips are ignored by the majority of people.
