ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford CrimeStoppers celebrated 30 years of keeping the Stateline safer at today's annual banquet. Winnebago and Boone County jurisdictions each received one-thousand dollars in grant money, while three law enforcement students received one-thousand dollar college scholarships. Over the past three decades, Rockford CrimeStoppers has helped solve over 27,000 cases, and callers have received nearly $1.8 million for their information.
Jan Ohlander, CrimeStoppers Board Chairman, says, "It's really a simple formula and I call it the three ‘C's’. Number one is ‘Confidentiality’. Number two is ‘credibility’ and number three is ‘cash’. So, we mix all those together and it's been a good success formula for us, so we’re up for another 30 years."
The lone high school scholarship winner is Lonnie Williams of Auburn. He's the son of 23 WIFR employee Davidia Williams. Lonnie will be attending Southern Illinois University this fall.
