A father and son pair are being charged with multiple drug-related offenses.
Belvidere police on Wednesday arrested Reginald Sockwell and his son Reginald A. Sockwel on suspicion of drug offenses during a traffic stop after a K-9 unit detected drugs. According to Belvidere police, over 50 packages of heroin, cash and the car were seized.
The elder Sockwell, 51, of Rockford, was charged with 4 counts of delivering drugs within 1,000 feet of a school (Heroin - Class 1 felony). He remains in the Boone County Jail without bond.
His son, 32, of Rockford, was charged with three counts of unlawful delivery of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school (Heroin - Class 1 Felony). According to police, he is a known gang member and is currently on parole. He also remains in the Boone County Jail without bond.
According to police, this was part of a larger investigation, and more arrests are expected soon.
