On Monday, 10/19/09, shortly after 8:00 p.m. Patrol Officers from the Rockford Police Dept. responded to the McDonald’s restaurant, 3710 Auburn St., in reference to a Vehicular Hijacking investigation. When they arrived, Officers learned that the victim, an 83-year-old male, was walking to his vehicle in the parking lot when he was approached by two male suspects. One of the suspects then began striking the victim numerous times in the head and face. Both suspects then entered the victim’s vehicle, a silver 2006 Hyundai Sonata, and fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for a serious head injury.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Dept. are conducting a follow up investigation into this incident. Based on the information gathered to this point the suspects are described as follows:
Suspect #1 Light Skinned Black Male or Hispanic Male
Late Teens or Early 20’s
5’7 150 lbs. Medium Build
Black Jacket / Yellow Shirt / Blue Jeans
Suspect #2 Light Skinned Black Male or Hispanic Male
Late Teens or Early 20’s
5’8 150 lbs. Medium Build
Black Jacket or Sweatshirt / White Shirt / Blue Jeans
Unknown Type Halloween Mask
Several photos of the suspects have been recovered from the surveillance cameras at McDonald’s and are attached electronically to this press release.
