ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Garbage will not be picked up Monday and collected will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
The city of Rockford announced that garbage collection scheduled for Monday January 6, 2014, has been suspended will start again on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. The regular collection day will be delayed by one day throughout the remainder of the week.
As a reminder, Christmas trees may be placed for disposal along with the normal refuse starting this week and continuing until Wednesday January 15th. Please remember to remove all decorations and lighting before placing for collection.
Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) will again be conducting their annual Christmas Tree Recycling effort at 13 locations throughout Winnebago County through January 15th. For further information you can go to www.KNIB.org or call at (815) 637-1343.
Customers of Rock River Disposal, Gills Freeport Disposal, MDC Environmental Services, Illinois Valley Waste Services & Northern Illinois Disposal Services will have their garbage pickup delayed by one day. The Winnebago Landfill & the Rochelle Municipal Landfill will be also be closed Monday, January 6th and resume normal operations on Tuesday, January 7th.
