WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- A national report from the USDA says apple production in the US is up, but down in the Midwest. Not to worry though, one of our local orchards says its crop is looking fine.

Edwards Apple Orchard West opened its doors for the first time this season on Friday. Owners say the harsh winter delayed their crop, but numbers are right where they should be at this time of year and don't go along with the reports of a 12 percent drop in the Midwest. Owner Mike Edwards says he's even talked with other area producers and they say the same thing.

Currans Orchard also opened this weekend. Both Currans and Edwards are is open daily from nine to six
