UPDATE: FREEPORT (WIFR) – Freeport’s first roundabout is now open. City leaders say the $1.3 million project will make the intersection of Pearl City Road and Kiwanis Drive safer. Crews will continue to work on the project over the winter. A formal ribbon cutting will happen this spring when construction is complete.
FREEPORT (WIFR) – A heads up for Freeport drivers, an intersection on the city’s southwest side is closed until December.
Construction crews are making room for a roundabout at West Peal City Road and Kiwanis Drive, close to Highland Community College.
City officials say it should make the intersection a lot safer, but acknowledge it will be a headache for many of us. All of the businesses near there will remain open. For information about detours, visit http://cityoffreeport.org/recent_news.htm.
