CRIMESTOPPERS: Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash Investigation

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Today I'm joined by Rockford Police Department Investigator James Lake as we seek your assistance solving a hit and run fatality accident that took place here in the 33-hundred block of North Main Street. Jim what can you tell us about the accident. Well Rich at about 2 am on Thursday August 7th, members of the Rockford Police Department responded right here to the 33-hundred block of North Main Street in reference to an unconscious male. Upon arrival they found severely injured 55 year old victim Robert Hill lying next to the roadway on the east side of Main Street. Mr. Hill was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. It was determined Mr. Hill was along the east edge of the roadway where he was struck by a northbound vehicle that left the scene. The vehicle parts recovered at the scene indicate that the offending car was 2004-2008 Chevy Malibu which sustained right front end damage.
