ROCKFORD (WIFR) – More than 300 guns have been turned into rubble in Rockford.
Behr Iron and Metal destroyed the weapons at its Quaker road location this morning. The company has recycled hundreds of guns over the years for local law enforcement agencies. Employees say they’re glad to make scrap of weapons used in violent crimes to get them off our streets.
“It’s not anti-gun, it’s not pro-gun. It’s basically anti-crime,” said Jim Barbagallo with Behr.
Behr says the weapons are required to be cut in a certain way and can only be done while an agent or officer is there.
