A Pair of Road Construction Projects Kick off this Week in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- With the arrival of spring comes construction season and there are two new projects starting this week that may affect our commutes.

The nearly $21 million reconstruction project for the bridges on US 20 over the Rock River should start this week. Crews will rebuild the bridges on the east bound lanes first, shifting traffic across the median into the westbound lanes. That work should be done by November 2014, then in the spring of 2015 crews will redo the westbound bridge.

Also, traffic will be down to one lane at times this week around the Bell School and Guilford Road intersection. Crews are changing traffic signal patterns to cut down on delays in the area. That work should be done by Friday.
