WASHINGTON (AP) -- The IRS says it is looking for more than 115,000 taxpayers who are due refund checks. They were returned as undeliverable.
The refunds average about $950, totaling $110 million. The funds account for less than one-tenth of one percent of all refunds.
The agency suggests that anyone who thinks they may be owed money, go to the IRS Web site at www.irs.gov. There, one can check on the status of a refund and can also provide a correct mailing address.
Another way of avoiding the problem is to have a refund placed in the bank through direct deposit.
