"The minute you start talking about it brings the whole atmosphere down"

Let go during the last round of lay-offs, Lisa St.Clark says she's not surprised 1600 of her former GM co-workers may be in the same position. The automaker will announce Monday whether they're putting the brakes to truck and SUV production by the end of this year.

" I think it answers more questions people always want to know when it's going to close. Whats going to happen ?..says St.Clark

The plant was already slated to close in two years but that might be accelerated due to the increase in gas prices and decrease in company stock..

"I guess I'm afraid for my whole city whats going to happen??.. What small business will last ..I don't know" says St.Clark
.
.Bartender Jeff Hilt owns one of those small businesses.. he fears the auto industry's collapse will put his bar in the passenger seat..

"It was still a good lunch crowd and after work business and now of course ,that crowd will be gone" says Hilt

and if these production lines eventually come to a halt.. St.Clark hopes the weekend's empty parking lots.. won't predict the future of Janesville ..

"You hope it won't be a ghost down but you have no idea where everybody's going to go"
