JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- The man who has been institutionalized after killing his sister in 1984 will not be released just yet.
A Rock County judge Wednesday approved a plan to keep Mark Staskal at the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison while the state continues to look for community placement.
The state has been unable to find a suitable location for Staskal, who stayed for a short time in Eau Claire.
Staskal's parents have been among those who oppose his conditional release and want him to remain institutionalized.
Staskal was found not guilty by reason of mental disease in the stabbing death of his 16-year-old sister, Marcy, at their parents' Milton home.
Rock County Circuit Court Judge Michael Byron ordered Staskal's conditional release last year.
