NEW YORK (AP) -- The number of millionaires around the globe is growing larger -- and the rich are getting decidedly richer.
The World Wealth Report shows the number of people around the globe with at least 1 million dollars in assets has jumped by 6 percent to 10.1 million.
That means an additional 600,000 people became millionaires even as global economic woes spread in the second half of last year.
The survey also finds the combined wealth of world millionaires has grown by more than 9 percent to 40.7 trillion dollars. The group's average wealth has passed the 4-million-dollar mark for the first time. And that doesn't include their primary homes.
The group represents just 0.15 percent of the world's population of 6.7 billion.
