More than 2,000 people spent time in downtown Rockford Saturday as a local festival took over part of one of the busiest streets in the city.
The second annual Screw City Beer Festival wrapped up Saturday evening. Craft beer lovers from all over the country got to taste up to a 130 different types of beers made by dozens of brewers. Event organizers say this event has put Rockford on the map for drinkers looking for quality tastes.
"This is good for downtown Rockford because not only are bringing in people from around town to downtown that typically wouldn't come down. We're bringing people in from out of town," said event organizer Aaron Sleger. "We've mailed tickets out to St. Louis and Pennsylvania, and lots of surrounding states. And it gets people into Rockford that typically wouldn't come here for another reason."
Organizers sold out the 2,000 tickets by 2pm.
