Today guests at the millennium center were given an update on the "Rock River Trail Initiative," which seeks to make the trail along the Rock River nationally recognized. Organizers hope it is a good place for visitors to hike, bike, canoe and kayak.

"Happiness many times is in your own backyard," said Frank Schier, initiative founder. "And the Rock River is largely an undiscovered resource of the region. It is absolutely beautiful."

The "Rock River Trail Initiative" hopes to have the trail fully operational within a year.
