A Loves Park motel is being scrutinized tonight for allowing guests to break the law.

Five people at the Clayton House Hotel in Loves Park were arrested last Saturday, some for drug charges and others for prostitution.

People from nearby businesses and others who live in the area said they aren't in the least bit surprised by these arrests.

One business owner said the motel has always attracted criminal activity because of the low price to stay in a room.

One neighbor of the motel said it's frightening to have this happen in their own backyard.

"They need to either shut it down, if they can't raise the prices and make it into a nicer hotel, just shut it down," said Linda Eiche, who lives a couple blocks away from the hotel. "I mean it doesn't make me feel safe that that's there."

One local business owner who chose to be unnamed, said he sees less crime than he used to, and said he sees the Loves Park Police patrolling the area much more routinely.

Loves Park Police ask us to contact them if we notice any more suspicious activity.
