Another annual festival kicks off this weekend, this one outside of a local church.
Greek-fest 2012 was held downtown near Uncle Nicks this weekend. This is the first time the annual celebration was held in September; usually it takes place in July.
Residents had a chance to celebrate the Greek culture by experiencing different foods and music. The event also had several Greek items on display including jewelry and imported gifts.
"We kind of want to send the message out to the community about the Greek Orthodox faith and the history of the Greek Orthodox faith, as well as welcoming people to our culture," said Patty Stadelman, who helped organize the event. "To experience our food, to experience our dance. To experience the true 'Greek Experience' so to speak."
