The only strip club in Beloit Township will shut its doors Thursday night for the last time.
The Silver Slipper Saloon and Gentlemen's Club will be suspended for fifty days until the business reopens in May, but this time without any nude dancers.
The town board voted to close the strip club this past Monday, and allow the bar to open up again once its stripper poles are removed. The manager of the bar says the business has been there for 26 years, and feels they are being treated unfairly.
Town Administrator Brian Wilson said a strip club just isn't a good thing for the neighborhood.
"A residential neighborhood with a building that's fairly small, even though it does have adequate parking, maybe not necessarily the best location for it," said Wilson. "And in this case, I think there's a lot of residents that are breathing a sigh of relief and hoping to see something different in the future."
The town brought the hearing against the bar... After police were called multiple times to the strip club... Because of several fights and even a shooting that left two wounded earlier this year.
The silver slipper is the only strip club operating in the town after an ordinance passed more than a decade ago banning them. The club shuts down tomorrow at midnight.
